I spent most of my writing career laboring in the vineyard of advertising, where my projects have included web content, feature articles, press kits, direct response packages, catalog copy, and print advertising. I wrote for clients in the publishing, medical, self-help, high tech, and film industries.
Even so, I was a vocalist and a classically-trained flautist. I had done studio work and community theater, played in bands and orchestras, sung in choirs both sacred and secular, large and small. I had written and arranged music, and performed in several genres -- classical, folk, country, rock, jazz, and pop. I blogged on all of these musics and more in my own, now-defunct blog, FM.
Then, in 2006, a funny thing happened. I had been exposed to it all my life, but the bluegrass bug finally bit. Consequently, in 2008, I became a contributing writer for The Lonesome Road Review. Writing as "Maria Morgan Davis", I reviewed CDs in the bluegrass, Americana, folk, and singer/songwriter genres.
I've recently started a blog that focuses exclusively on bluegrass gospel. Jerusalem Tomorrow: The Bluegrass Gospel Blog is chock full of song spotlights, videos, CD reviews, news, and commentary on bluegrass gospel, scripture, and Christian culture. I hope to see my Suite101 readers there.
